Because first impression matter
When you do a search on Google for a business or an industry (i.e. “plumber near me”), the individual businesses and listings that come up are known as Google My Business. Just about every business has one, whether you created the account or not. That’s why it’s important for you to “claim” the business so you can have control over the information and content that customers see.
Claiming your business isn’t enough. You need to optimize it as well. Otherwise you’re left with the default image of your business that Google took the last time their car drove by and took a picture. Plus you need to respond to reviews – the good and the bad – to show people you’re engaged with your listing on Google.
